SENIORS   

 LEGAL CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS:  Applications are here for graduating seniors, who are legal California residents, and are going to be admitted to an accredited College or University.   You must be able to demonstrate financial need. Only 2 applicants may be submitted and the deadline is March 31, 2010.  The applications are in the Guidance Office.  (Lozano)

 SENIOR BABY PICTURES:  Were you cute when you were a baby and want to show everyone?  If you are a senior, you will have the chance to show yourself off in the yearbook.  All you have to do is bring a current picture of yourself along with your baby picture to the Student Store.  Make sure you write your name and address on the back of both pictures so they can be returned to you. (Mrs. “I”)

 SENIOR CLASS T-SHIRTS:  There is a limited number of senior class t-shirts available.  Buy yours today for only $10.00. (Ellis)

 SENIOR PANORAMIC PHOTO:  If you want the senior panoramic photo, you can now order the photo at the Student Store.  The price is ten dollars.

 NAME CHECK:  Seniors need to check the posted lists to see that your legal name is correct for your diploma.  You must use the name on your birth certificate.  Changes can be made through the Registrar’s Office until March 12, 2010.  All name changes need to be accompanied with a birth certificate and signed name change form. After this date you will be charged a $30.00 re-print fee. Postings of the names are located in your Civics/Econ Class and outside the Registrar’s Office.  (Larson)

SCHOLARSHIP BULLETIN:  Seniors - the March Scholarship Bulletin is available in the Career Center.

 CLUB   

 BSU:  There will be a BSU meeting in Room 109 after school at 2:45 on Thursday, March 11th.  Come join us. (Shim)

 DRAMA CLUB:  The Drama Club monthly meeting will be this Friday, March 12th, in P-3 from 12:30 to 1:15. See you there! (Self)

 BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU CLUB:  Want to be part of one of the biggest clubs on campus?  For the first time the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club is offering after school practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:40 until 3:40.  Come join the Young Blood Wrestling Club to participate in grappling tournaments.  BOYS TENNIS:  If any boys tennis players would like to be interviewed and or their photos taken so that they could be on the tennis page in the yearbook, please come to the computer lab during 6th period and ask for yearbook. (Mrs. “I”).

 GENERAL  

CABARET:  On Saturday, April 10th, bring a date and eat a delicious catered 3- course meal while our Cabaret singers sing you through your supper. Then, watch Act-One of our spring show, the fall-down comedy “Moon Over Buffalo. Later, eat dessert to a tune or two, and then see the rest of the play. All that for ONLY $25 per person! This all happens at 5:45. Arrive in the theatre lobby, and our waiters will come and get you and seat you for dinner.

Tickets are on sale at the student store or P-3 now through March 19th ONLY!  You cannot pay at the door! Get 'em while they're hot! Act now to have fun and support Highland's wonderful Theatre and Choir students!

 PIZZA:  Are you hungry for pizza?  Then feed your hunger at Shakey's tomorrow night, Wednesday, from 6:00 to 9:00 and help support the Class of 2012.  Order your favorite pizza, chicken or potatoes, and then just slip your receipt in the box.  We are planning one of the best proms ever for 2011, and we need your help.  So, we'll see you tomorrow at Shakey's!  ASB BLOOD DRIVE:  Attention all 16, 17, and 18 year olds!!  Signups for the next blood drive will begin this Friday at lunch in the commons!  This is to be our biggest blood drive ever - including the history of the school district!  Come out on Friday to reserve your spot.  We are looking to sign up 500 committed donors for this drive, so absolutely no one will be turned away!  Give the gift of life on April 15th...donate blood!! (Prosser)   

LAW & GOVERNMENT ACADEMY:  Students who are interested in applying to the Law and Government Academy can pick up an application in the Guidance Office or in Room 109. Please return the applications ASAP to Ms. Herrera in Room 521. (Hunn)

 LAW ENFORCEMENT CLASS:  Juniors and Seniors who are interested in taking the Law Enforcement Class next school year can pick up an application in the Guidance Office or in Room 109.  Interviews will be on Thursday, March 18, at 2:45 p.m., in Room 521. (Hunn)

 VISUAL COMMUNICATION PROGRAM:  Are you ready for Filmmaking or Animation? It is time to be creative and ready for the future so sign up to be part of our Visual Communication program. We have state of the art equipment will allow you to be creative in front and behind the camera, experience computer editing, acting and designing special effects.  For more information see Mr. Vogler in Room 245.  AVID FOR 2010/2011: Attention future AVID students! AVID applications for next year are available now in both the Counseling Office and in Room 115 from Mrs. Herrera. If you would like to apply to be a part of this college-prep elective, apply now! Applications are due by March 19th.  (J. Herrera)

 FINDING YOUR PERFECT MATCH:  ASB is ready to make matches!!!  If you are interested in finding your perfect match on campus, come pick up a permission slip in the Activities Office or ASB room!!  Your results will be available at the Student Store beginning this Monday for $2, but you must have your parent’s permission to buy and participate!!  (Prosser)  

 LINK CREW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Current Senior Link Leaders who are interested in a scholarship opportunity please see Ms. Hale in guidance at your lunch time.  She will give you further information.
  • Students who are interested in becoming 2010-2011 Link Leaders.  Applications are now available in the Guidance Office! Applications are due on March 31st. 
  • All 2009-2010 Link Leaders, there will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, March 16th immediately after school at 12:15 in Room 109.  Please be there and on time. 

 CHOIR CLASS AUDITION:  It's that exciting time of year when we audition for next years' CHOIR CLASSES!!  If you think you've got what it takes, come to Ms. Anderson's room across from the Attendance Office to audition.  It's fun!!  It's easy!!  It's free!!

Auditions are held during B lunch and after school.

 PROM:  The prom tickets are now on sale!  The price of the tickets are $120.00 per person.  This year the Prom will be held in the Wallis-Annenberg Building in Los Angeles.  If you plan on bringing a guest that does not attend Highland, see Mrs. Stewart in the Activities Office for the guest pass permission form.  If you are not bringing a guest, go to the Student Store for the non-guest permission form.  The prom will be tons of fun!

 2007 GRADS:   If you have a brother or sister that graduated from Highland High School in 2007, they can pick up their school records from June 1, 2010 through July 1, 2010 before they are destroyed.  Please bring your I.D. to the Registrar’s Office.  (Larson)

 YEARBOOK SALES:   The yearbooks are on sale in the Student Store for $95.00.  There is a payment plan available. (Mrs. I)
