What Is It?

The Public Service Academy is intended to provide the students with a foundation in the understanding of the roles of many of the key players involved in a criminal, fire, or medical incident. Students are introduced to the core operational skills, communication methods, and decision-making frameworks used by public safety professionals in the field. Students are introduced to the practical, day-to-day responsibilities of patrol officers, including effective radio communication, situational assessment, officer safety protocols, and the technology that supports modern policing.

Students will gain insight into how emergency operations are coordinated during crises and learn foundational life-saving skills that prepare them to respond effectively in real-world emergencies.

Courses Available

Principles of Biomedical Sciences Honors, Public Safety Fundamentals, Health Science Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medical Technician and Public Service Leadership.

What To Expect

Students engage in hands-on activities, simulations, guest speakers, and physical training to develop foundational knowledge, discipline, ethics, and skills. The curriculum emphasizes practical application, decision-making, and leadership to prepare students for sworn or civilian positions in law enforcement, fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), dispatch, corrections, or related fields.
